Why should I have my newborn photographed?

Babies, especially newborns, change unbelievably quickly. Once they are born, there is only a few weeks to capture the ‘new’ born. It is so easy to miss documenting this time as it is so fleeting. One minute they are tiny little bundles and the next, they are uncurling, becoming more alert and then they begin to conquer their growing milestones such as smiling and lifting their head up in no time at all.

Let me capture this precious time in your family’s life. This moment in time is then immortalised for you, your family and your baby to look back on for all of time.

I create bespoke, stylish portraits. Each session is designed with my client in mind. When booking, I will send a questionnaire for you to fill in, so I can get to know what you would like, the colours you would prefer, the style, the props, the poses and what accessories you would like (or not like).

I believe every family should have the opportunity to have fine art photos of their new baby and family. And I will guarantee that these pictures will quickly become one of your most valuable possessions that you will ever own.

When time is best for newborn photography?

Newborn photography is best when your baby is between 5-14 days old. This is when they are sleepy and are able to get in those curly poses.

When is best to book?

Bookings can be done from 20 weeks into your pregnancy and will ensure your session once your baby arrives.

What if my baby arrives early or late?

Babies very rarely arrive on their due date. When you book a newborn session, I will ask for your due date so I know when your baby is due to arrive. But because they probably will not come on your due date, I book a window around your due date so that I only take a limited number of newborn bookings during that time. That way, I will always be available for when your baby does arrive, early or late.

What if my baby has already arrived?

Don't worry! I only take on a certain amount of clients per month, so please get in touch as I can usually fit in clients with short notice. Also, please get in touch if your baby has missed the early newborn stage. I have photographed older newborns being able to achieve similar photographs of early newborns, it just might mean that you will have more awake photographs of your baby.

My baby has just arrived. What shall I do?

Firstly, congratulations! It can be such a beautiful time, and a very busy time. If you have not already booked a newborn session, then please contact me as soon as you are able to so we can arrange a date when your baby is between 5-14 days old.

Where will the newborn session take place?

I offer a newborn portrait session from your home. You can have the benefit of studio newborn portraits without leaving your house. All I need is an area to set up a large beanbag and a studio light on a tripod. You can even sit back and relax while I look after your baby through the session.

What should I expect from a newborn session?

A newborn session usually takes up to 3 hours because I allow time for not only posing and scene set up, but also time for baby to feed, settle and to relax and take a break. I am led by the baby throughout the session and I am constantly checking and looking for cues from the baby. I only book one session a day so I can dedicate myself to that client for that day. Therefore if does not matter if a session over runs.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes, I do. It’s a convenient way to spread the cost, and there is no financial checks. Once the balance is paid, your order will be delivered. Please contact me to learn more.

How far will you travel to do my in-home newborn session?

From my location in Aldershot, Hampshire, I travel up to an hour away. I travel to Richmond upon Thames, Haslemere, Bordon and Winchester, and many, many more places. If you are unsure whether your location is within the area I cover, please contact me.
